Individual & Family Health Insurance (ACA Marketplace)
Help choosing an ACA Marketplace health plan through HealthCare.gov, including checking whether you qualify for premium tax credits that lower your monthly cost. Using a licensed agent does not change the price of the plan.
How individual and family health insurance works
Ohio uses the federal Marketplace at HealthCare.gov. If you are self-employed, between jobs, retired before 65, or your employer does not offer affordable coverage, a Marketplace plan may fit. Plans are grouped into metal levels (Bronze, Silver, Gold) that trade a lower monthly premium against higher costs when you use care. Many households qualify for premium tax credits based on expected income and household size. We compare the plans available in your county, check that your doctors and prescriptions are covered, and help you enroll. Agents are paid by the insurance company, so our help costs you nothing extra.

Common questions
When can I enroll in a Marketplace plan in Ohio?
Open Enrollment for 2027 coverage runs November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027 on HealthCare.gov. Enroll by December 15 for coverage that starts January 1. Outside that window you need a qualifying life event, such as losing other coverage, moving, marriage or a new baby, to use a Special Enrollment Period.
Does using an agent cost more?
No. Marketplace premiums are the same whether you enroll on your own, with a navigator or with a licensed agent. Insurance companies pay agents a commission.
Can you tell me if I qualify for lower premiums?
We can estimate it with you from your expected household income and size, and the Marketplace application confirms the final amount. Tax credits are reconciled on your federal tax return, so it matters to report income changes during the year.
